Scarecrow is one of Napa Valley's highly regarded cult Cabernet producers, located on the historic J.J. Cohn Estate in Rutherford. The estate was purchased in 1942 by J.J. Cohn, the legendary MGM executive whose studio produced The Wizard of Oz. The Scarecrow name pays tribute to that connection.

The vineyard's original Cabernet vines were planted in 1945, and for decades its fruit was sold to some of Napa Valley's most respected producers, including neighboring Inglenook. Today, Scarecrow is produced in very limited quantities from the historic estate and is made by acclaimed winemaker Celia Welch.
